The Columbia Disc Golf Club will be hosting its 26th Annual Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament on Sunday, January 29th at Albert-Oakland Park. Tee off will be at 10:00AM with the awarding of the Ice Bowl Bucket following the second round (approximately 4:30PM). The proceeds from this competition will be donated to Almeta Crayton's Everybody Eats program and the local Food Bank.
This tournament is one of the gems of the CDGC, having orginated what is now an international charity event. Last year with 233 events reporting, 12,368 disc golfers from the USA, Canada, Finland, and Norway raised a total $275,893. In addition, almost 60,000 pounds of food was donated.
Fifty to seventy-five players are expected to compete in at least two divisions depending on the weather. The credo of the event has always been "No Wimps - No Whiners!" so those not in attendance will be ridiculed for the remainder of the year. Past winners including Alex Dadant, Randy Slaughter, George Smith and Keith Amerson are expected to compete. In addition, We expect many of the club pros and regulars to compete and encourage anyone in the community who likes disc golf and helping others, and who's crazy enough to ignore the elements to come out and join the fun.
Sweatshirts, t-shirts, and discs featuring the Ice Bowl logo also are available. Please contact a club officer if you would like to preorder any Ice Bowl merchandise. A limited quantity will be avaiable for sale the day of the event. A list of favorite items that can be ordered is shown below.
